Steve Kirin - Chief Executive Officer

A true entrepreneurial spirit, Steve brings an unmatched passion and drive to NCBTMB with extensive knowledge in business administration, marketing, operations, sales, software development, human resources and more—empowering him to stop nothing short of restructuring the organization to further live up to its mission with a core focus on certification.

Steve began his NCBTMB journey as Chief Operating Officer in 2011. Soon after, in 2013, he was elevated to Chief Executive Officer. From the very start, Steve has made it his personal mission to audit and restructure all facets of the organization to achieve greater efficiencies, financial stability, and purpose within the profession. He has embraced “steering the ship” through uncharted waters with bold decisions to exit licensure, partner with an international specialist examination board, and introduce specialty certificates, among many other notable achievements.

With a BA Degree in Business Administration and Marketing from North Central College, Steve has since pursued and thrived in multiple high-level, executive positions in the international airline, biometric security, housing, music, and software development industries. His well-rounded background is proof of his passion for great communication, identifiable and measurable goals, and efficient operations.

When he’s not working, Steve is a talented and dedicated musician. For over thirty years, Steve and his band have had the pleasure to perform all over the country—and he doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon!  He also enjoys sports and spending quality time with his family.

Donna Sarvello, BCTMB, MBA - VP of Educational Support

Donna is the VP of Educational Support with NCBTMB. Her background with NCBTMB includes developing or revising NCBTMB’s programs, building a relationship with Approved Providers of continuing education, school personnel, Certificants and industry leaders. She has the developed NCBTMB’s Online Practice Exam and newest addition, Specialty Certificates.

Graduating from Chicago School of Massage Therapy in 1998, she began working immediately for 2 separate Chiropractors, a Physical Therapist and a Holistic therapy center. This led her into teaching and managing a massage therapy program for a large corporation. As the program manager, she taught the full curriculum and assisted in rewriting a large portion of the corporation’s 750 hour curriculum.

Donna is passionate about elevating the standards of education in and around the massage therapy profession. Throughout the years, Donna has continued her education by taking courses in different areas from massage therapy continuing education to business management courses, and completed her MBA in 2010.

Sara Bakulski - Accountant

A breath of fresh air for NCBTMB, Sara brings a wealth of accounting, financial planning, human resources, and insurance policies expertise to NCBTMB. With a unique passion for numbers, Sara is best known for her ability to evaluate and purposefully overhaul accounting systems and reporting standards to produce streamlined and comprehendible outcomes. In her current role, Sara handles all day-to-day accounting functions, including expenses, refunds, accounts payable/accounts receivable, mailing lists, and payroll, among other tasks. She plays a vital role in creating budgets for approval, participating in necessary financial negotiations, and working directly with auditors.

Outside of work, Sara enjoys reading, camping, and spending quality time with family and friends. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Roosevelt University and plans to pursue her MBA beginning in 2015—confirmation she is always up for a challenge!

Anne Anthony - Ethics and Standards Manager

A key NCBTMB team member for over seven years, Anne has served various roles within the organization, beginning as an Eligibility Coordinator in 2008 before transitioning to NCBTMB’s School Outreach group in 2010. In February 2012, Anne was promoted to her current role of NCBTMB’s Ethics and Standards Manager. In this role, Anne serves as Staff Liaison to the NCBTMB Ethics and Standards Committee, a dedicated and passionate panel of experts who review related ethical and professional complaints. As Staff Liaison, Anne assists the committee in their goal to uphold and maintain the integrity of our profession. Anne finds inspiration in the unmatched passion of our Certificants, volunteers, and educators and their tireless commitment to elevate the massage therapy profession.

Prior to NCBTMB, Anne was employed by a large telecommunications firm where her responsibilities included client support and project coordination. In her time outside of work, Anne enjoys supporting local artists, going to outdoor art fairs in the summer, and golfing.
